Find out who supplies your energy

At Helpthemove, we use a unique automation tool that runs every move out through our internal database. This system automatically identifies your current electricity supplier, gas supplier, water provider, and local district council.

Most of the time, this works seamlessly. The only occasions when the system may not return the correct information are:

• If the property is a new build

• If the address is registered differently on the national database compared to the Royal Mail records

In those rare cases, you may need to check your details manually or we may reach out to get further details from you directly.

Electricity Supplier

• Check your latest electricity bill – your supplier’s name will be on it.

• No bill? Use the Energy Networks Association search tool and enter your postcode to find your local network operator.

• Contact your network operator – they can confirm the name of your electricity supplier.

  💡 Optional: Ask for your MPAN (Meter Point Administration Number). This unique number is linked to your meter and helps suppliers identify your electricity supply.

Gas Supplier

• Use the Find My Supplier tool or call 0870 608 1524 (calls cost 7p per minute plus your phone company’s access charge).

• Enter your details to see who supplies your gas.

  💡 Optional: Ask for your MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number). Like the MPAN, this number helps identify your gas supply.

Why this matters

You may need your supplier details if you’re moving home, setting up a new account, or switching to a new energy company.
